Lumo

Last updated: August 21, 2026

Lumo (“the app”, “we”, “us”) is a focus app that lets you run Pomodoro sessions and see when the friends in your circle are heads-down or free. We built Lumo to be private by default. This policy explains, in plain language, what the app handles and what it does not.

The short version

What the app stores, and where

Your private content (private iCloud — we can’t access it)

Your focus history, tasks, projects, goals, courses, journal reflections, streaks, and preferences are saved to your device and synced across your devices through your private Apple CloudKit database. This data is tied to your Apple ID. Apple, not us, operates iCloud, and we have no access to your private database.

Shared presence data (public CloudKit — visible to your peers)

To let your circle see whether you’re focusing or free — and to deliver kudos — the app writes a small record to a shared CloudKit database. This can include:

This shared data is accessible to peers in your circle and is processed by Apple’s CloudKit on our behalf. It is used only to provide the app’s presence and encouragement features. You control what you share: presence sharing can be turned off, and you choose who is in your circle.

App & website blocking (Screen Time)

If you use the focus-blocking feature, Lumo uses Apple’s Family Controls / Screen Time framework. The apps and websites you choose to block are represented by opaque tokens managed by iOS on your device. We never see which apps or sites you select — that information does not leave your device in a form we can read.

Purchases

Lumo is free. An optional one-time “Lumo Pro” purchase lifts the free limit on your circle (invite more than four people, create groups) and adds a supporter badge. It is handled entirely by Apple’s App Store (StoreKit). We do not receive or store your payment details.

Notifications

If you allow notifications, they are scheduled locally on your device (e.g. streak reminders and session alerts). We do not run a push server that profiles you.

What we do not do

Your choices & rights

Children

Lumo is intended for teens and adults (13+) and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

Data retention

Private content persists in your iCloud until you delete it. Shared presence records are transient and are updated or cleared as your status changes; kudos remain until deleted. Removing the app and its iCloud data clears your information.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we’ll update this page and revise the “Last updated” date above.
