Common questions

My widget isn’t updating. iOS decides when to refresh widgets, so a widget can lag behind the app by a few minutes. Opening Widgets Now forces a refresh. Time-based widgets update every minute; other widgets update roughly every 15 minutes.

My designs aren’t syncing to my other device. Both devices need to be signed into the same Apple Account with iCloud Drive turned on. You can check what’s happening under Settings ▸ Sync diagnostics inside the app, which shows your iCloud account status, anything still waiting to upload, and the exact message iCloud last returned.

Someone I invited can’t see the group. A shared group only becomes live for someone once they open the invite link you sent them and accept it. Sending the link is the step that matters — adding somebody in the app does not by itself grant access.

What happens to a group if I stop using the app? A shared group lives in the iCloud account of whoever created it. iCloud provides no way to transfer that ownership to somebody else, so if the creator stops using Widgets Now, the group ends for everyone in it. The app says this on the screen where you create a group.

How do I remove a group? If you created it, open the group and choose Delete for everyone. If you joined it, choose Leave this group. Leaving stops you receiving further updates; contributions you already made stay with the group.

Privacy Policy

Last updated 17 August 2026

Widgets Now is built so that your information stays yours. There is no account to create, no sign-up, and no server operated by us. This policy explains exactly what happens to your data.

What we collect

Nothing. Widgets Now does not collect, store, sell or share personal information. There is no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no third-party SDKs of any kind in the app.

Where your content lives

Invite links

When you choose to invite someone to a group, Widgets Now publishes a small, deliberately minimal snapshot to a public Apple iCloud database so that the App Clip can show the group to the person you invited before they install anything. That snapshot contains only the group’s title, its unit, the current total, the goal, how many people are in it, and its colours. It never contains member names, notes, or history.

The snapshot is readable only by someone holding the invite code, which is 128 bits of randomness. It is created when you tap Invite and deleted when you revoke the invite. If you never invite anyone, nothing is ever published.

Weather

Widgets Now does not ask for, and cannot access, your device’s location. If you add a weather widget, you pick a city yourself, and the app sends that city’s coordinates to Open-Meteo to fetch the forecast. No identifier and no account information is attached to that request, and we do not store it.

Photos

If you use a photo as a widget background, you choose it through the standard iOS photo picker. The app only ever receives the single image you picked — it has no access to your photo library. That image stays on your device and, if iCloud sync is on, in your own iCloud.

Health and activity

Step, activity and water widgets display numbers you enter yourself in the app. Widgets Now does not read from Apple Health.

Deleting your data

Deleting the app removes everything stored on the device. To remove synced content, delete the designs or groups inside the app before uninstalling, or remove the app’s data from Settings ▸ Apple Account ▸ iCloud ▸ Manage Storage. Because data in a shared group lives in the creator’s iCloud, deleting a group you own removes it for everyone in it.

Children

Widgets Now is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone.

Changes
